Youth Division Age Cutoffs


Cal Cup 2022 Youth Divisions will be governed by the age of the participant on January 1st.
Youth Division Age Groups

  • U8 – Birthdate Cut-off 1/1/2014
  • U10 – Birthdate Cut-off 1/1/2012
  • U12 – Birthdate Cut-off 1/1/2010
  • U14 – Birthdate Cut-off 1/1/2008
  • U16 – Birthdate Cut-off 1/1/2006
  • U19 – Birthdate Cut-off 1/1/2003

Travel Information


Cal Cup Venues are located in the City of Moorpark, California, which is 35 miles from Los Angeles. Two best local Airports are: Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) which has both International & Domestic flights from Los Angeles, and is less than 40 miles from area hotels. Bob Hope Burbank Airport (BUR) which services both Intenrational & Domestic flights from Burbank, and is 25 miles from area hotels.

Format


Divisions

  • 5v5: U8 Open, U10 Open & U12 Open
  • 6v6: U14 Boys, U14 Girls
  • 11v11: U16 Girls, U16 Boys, U19 Women, Social, Masters, Competitive, and Supers
Game Times
  • 2x25 minute halves. Games played on the hour
  • 4 games guaranteed - most teams will play 5-6 games




Player Registration & Team Information


Team Information & Registration

  • All teams are registered electronically using our online process.
  • A $150 deposit secures each team.
  • Each Team Manager will receive a link to their Team/Club Page.
  • Team Manager will send link via email to each prospective player/parent.
  • Each player/parent will click through link to accept team invitation.
  • All Tournament infomation will be sent electronically via both email and sms text.
  • Cal Cup will send download link prior to tournament for our Iphone & Android App.
  • We do not sell or share any of your reigstration information with any outside parties or organizations.
Roster Sizes
  • 5v5 Divisions: Maximum 15 players and 2 coaches
  • 6v6 Divisions: Maximum 15 players and 2 coaches
  • 7v7 Divisions: Maximum 15 players and 2 coaches
  • 11v11 Divisions: Maximum 20 players and 2 coaches
Team Check-In Team Check-in is a simple and streamlined process. The Team Manager or Coach can come by our Information Booth at the Moorpark College Venue prior to the tournament start to receive team packets.




Rules


All divisions are governed by current FIH rules. Cal Cup Junior Rules Modifications Youth games U8, U10 & U12 will be playing 5v5 format. Youth games U14 will be playing 6v6 format Safety of all players on the field is the priority. U8 Division

  • U8 will be playing with the "larger" USAFH approved hockey ball.
  • There will be no goalies in this division.
  • No coaches or spectators behind either goals or end lines.
  • No coaches allowed in the circle (D) during any point in the game.
  • No short corners. A free hit for the offending team will be awarded at the top of the circle directly outside the circle
  • If a coach impedes the circle at any point a verbal warning shall be given. If the coach impedes the second time the coach shall be issued a green card and must be replaced with another coach or adult.
  • The stick may not be raised above the waist at any time during the game.
  • No penalty strokes, free hit rule applies.
  • Long corners will be taken at the half line directly up from where it exited the end line.
  • The ball must move 5 meters before entering the circle at any time within the opposing half.
  • The ball may not be raised off the ground at any point in the game including a shot on goal.
U10 Division
  • No coaches or spectators behind either goals or end lines.
  • No coaches allowed in the circle (D) during any point in the game.
  • If a coach impedes the circle at any point a verbal warning shall be given. If the coach impedes the second time the coach shall be issued a green card and must be replaced with another coach or adult.
  • The stick may not be raised above the shoulder at any time during the game.
  • Goalies are required in this division.
  • Penalty stroke are allowed. FIH rules apply.

  • The ball must move 5 meters before entering the circle at any time within the opposing half.
  • The ball may only be raised off the ground for a shot on goal. FIH danger rule applies.
U12 and U14 Boys & Girls
  • Standard FIH rules apply.
  • Long corners will be taken at the half line directly up from where it exited the end line.
  • The ball must move 5 meters before entering the circle at any time within the opposing half.
  • No coaches are allowed on the field at any point in the game.
  • Goalies are required in this division.
